The hardest thing I’ve ever done in life is go on a natural hair journey. Ok, I’m exaggerating… but seriously having natural hair is HARD. Maybe its just hard for me because I have short 4c hair. I don’t know… but the struggle is REAL!
As many of my fellow naturalista’s know, it takes a lot of trial and error to determine what does and does not work for your hair. For me, the most convenient thing to do with my hair is a wash n’ go. Now, usually my wash n’ go’s are just mediocre. But today… baybeeeee I feel like I nailed my wash n’ go. The funny thing is I didn’t use any kind of extravagant hair products. I literally used four products and the results shocked me! All day at work my coworkers commented on how great my definition was. I just had to share with you guys!!!
Product 1: Dr Bronner’s Castile Oil Soap
This morning when I woke up and took my braids out, it came out terrible! I had so much product build up but I knew I didn’t have enough time for my normal wash day routine. So, I decided to wash my hair quickly with Dr. Bronner’s Castile Oil Soap. It quickly sucked up all of the product buildup in my hair and got it squeaky clean.
Note: This Hemp Sandalwood & Jasmine scent is not sold in the US. I purchased this in Iceland
Product 2: Luster’s Shea Coconut Leave-In Conditioner
Luster’s has come a long way since the days of Pink Oil Moisturizer and beaded pony tail holders. Their Shea Butter Coconut Oil line is so good. I used the rake and pray method to comb and rub the conditioner through my hair.
Product 3: Shea Shea Bakery’s Acne Vitamin Mist
Ok, I know y’all are like “You put Acne Mist in your hair… whattttt?????” But seriously, one of my girlfriends told me how good rose-water is for the hair and since this was infused with Vitamin C and rose water I figured it would do the trick. So after I rubbed a layer of the leave-in conditioner in my hair, I sprayed the Acne Vitamin Mist in my hair.
Product 4: Hot Six Oil
Hot Six Oil is another throwback product I like to use. To give my hair a bit of luster I rubbed a little of the oil through my hair and plucked out some of my curls.
Do you see the poppage (new word) of these curls! On my way to work this morning I had to stop and take a selfie to capture the moment. Good hair days like this don’t happen for me too often, so I had to capture the moment!
I was seriously thinking of cutting all my hair off and going back to my Amber Rose look, but now that I’m kind of getting the hang of this hair situation…
What’s your wash n’ go routine?
