Blaq Roses

In 2016 I decided that I would fall back a bit from purchasing products from mainstream companies and start purchasing from small businesses when possible.  A vast majority of my hair and skin care products come from small businesses owned by African Americans that I’ve found on social media, and  I always let you guys know about the ones I do and don’t like.  A few months ago, I found out about Blaq Roses, you may remember me posting about their Hemp Oil Moisturizer in my post last week on keeping my skin clear.  Blaq Roses is a beauty company that promotes self-love and creative freedom.  Their products offer a holistic approach to self-care, and you guys know I’m all about holistic approaches to beauty and after years of soul-searching, I’ve finally learned how to love myself.   I had the opportunity to try several of their products and I have to admit, there was not one item that I did not love.

I immediately fell in love with their Guilty Dry Oil Perfume Spray.  It has two of my favorite oils; coconut and argan, and has the best scent ever.  I can’t even show you guys a picture of it because… I’ve already used it all.  But, I’ll definitely be placing an order soon.  Even though I used all of the perfume spray, I do still have the Guilty Body Wash.  The Body wash mixed with the perfume spray give you a sensual scent that lasts the entire day. I even spray my pillows with the dry oil to give my home a fresh scent!

I also got to try out the Coffee Butter Body Scrub, and I love a good body scrub.  I’ve heard so many things about how coffee scrubs were good for moisturizing and firming the skin,  so of course I was excited to try it.  I’ll have to use it a bit longer to see if I can tell a difference in the firmness of my skin, but it has definitely improved my skins moisture.

I guess I should just say that all of their scrubs are pretty amazing.  I mentioned the Lemon Honey Face Scrub in last week’s skin care post.  I love using it on the days that I actually wear makeup.  I like to mix it with cold pressed coconut oil to remove all of the deep down makeup that may have gotten into my pores and scrub away the gunk at the same time.   The Emulsified Sea Salt Scrub is great too! Whenever I workout, I like to use a really good and coarse sea salt scrub to get all the sweaty gunk off of my body (I sweat like a man) and this one does the trick! Oh and ladies if your heels are anything like mine, the Emulsified Scrub is BOMB for rubbing away dead skin on your feet!  MAJOR KEY if you plan to be barefoot on the beach or wearing cute strappy sandals this summer.

For some reason, I have an obsession with oils.   One of the things I love most about the  oils from Blaq Roses is  that they come with a dropper.  Since I have braids now, the dropper makes it easy to oil my scalp because I just slide the oil in between the parts of my braids. In recent years I discovered that I suffer from psoriasis in my scalp, so it gets super dry  and flaky which is never a good thing.  This Healthy Hair Oil has become a staple in my hair care routine because it helps keep the flakes away.  Its filled with castor, sage, lavender, peppermint and other oils that stimulate the scalp.   I love using it when I’ve washed my hair because it gives my scalp a tingly feeling (insert OutKast lyrics here).

A few weeks ago I shared my current skin care routine with you all and I mentioned that I liked to use this Hemp Oil Facial Moisturizer during my night-time routine.  Hemp oil is known to improve the elasticity of the skin and revitalize tired and dull looking skin leaving a youthful glow.  Since I’ve recently been hit on by a lot of younger men…  I definitely think its working lol.

Blaq Roses is definitely going to become a staple in my home!  I wish they had body butters and candles… Ugh life would be lit! (no pun intended).  Please check them out, and don’t forget to let me know what you think!

Until next time…
